Fresh-Cut Christmas Tree Tips

For many, the Christmas tree is the centerpiece of holiday tradition and togetherness. From selection and decorating to opening gifts on Christmas morning, the tree is a significant part of the memories we create each year.

Taking care of your fresh-cut Christmas tree can be easy if you follow these tips!

  • Select a fresh tree. Warren’s has trees shipped in from North Carolina, Oregon, and Washington where the trees are grown as a crop for the sole purpose of gracing your home during the holidays. Warren’s staff maintains the trees daily while at the Garden Center, but you should inspect the needles to make sure they are flexible, not dry or brittle.

  • Add fresh water to your stand every day. Warren’s provides a fresh cut to the tree as soon as it arrives at the Garden Center, allowing for better absorption of water once you get it home. Try to place it in the stand right away and top it off with fresh water every night. An 8-foot tree can “drink” up to a gallon of water a day, so keep an eye on it!

  • Additive. With every fresh-cut Christmas tree purchase, Warren’s includes a concentrated preservative to add to the water.

  • Placement. Keep your fresh-cut Christmas tree away from direct sunlight, heaters, fireplaces, or fans that can dry out your tree. You may even consider adding a humidifier to the room to keep the needles fresh longer by adding moisture to the air.

  • Cleanup. Warren’s includes a Christmas tree removal bag that is 100% recyclable and biodegradable, making cleanup and recycling your tree after the holidays easy!
